Creating my prints - final product - 28/11/2022

Creating my prints - final product Daisy Jackson / 28/11/2022 Today I created my final product - the prints. I created roughly 20+ of these so altogether I have 50+ products to sell which are all unique to each other.  Due to feeling unwell recently I could not create as many prints as I originally planned - the same goes for products in general as I wanted to create tote bags but decided to scrap this idea last minute. Instead, I will use what I learned on the technical sessions and create concept designs of what these products would look like if I actually did go through with making them.  I was also planning to create postcards but decided against this again last minute. I have a lot of products and ideas so I am not worried about not having enough to sell. I will save these postcards that I bought for perhaps another project or just for my own work. My next step will be pricing and packaging as well as business cards which I might also develop into a QR code for individuals to scan

Creating my final set of cards  Daisy Jackson / 28/11/2022 Today I finished creating my final set of cards which included the newer designs I created of the silhouettes. I was really happy with how these turned out. Here are the pictures of the final cards: Altogether I have 38 cards with variating designs. These cards will all go into plastic wallets to protect them from weather conditions and keep the cards generally safe.

Updating my website - 20/11/2022

Updating my website  Daisy Jackson / 20/11/2022 To help with marketing and pushing my brand out there, I thought it would be a great idea to further update my website which I have not done for months now. My style has changed a lot since the last time I updated it so I think it would be great to alter this.  This is still in process so I will keep going back to this blog post to post further updates. Here is my new homepage:

Who is my target audience? Any updates? - 20/11/2022

Who is my target audience? Any updates? Daisy Jackson / 20/11/2022 Due to further development of all my products, I have decided to change my target audience. From these results of the survey I did ages ago, I can tell that the common audience are young and have not watched or read Warhorse.  My now target audience is 12 and onwards. The products I make will appeal to both audiences that do not know Warhorse and those who do. When purchasing an item relating to Warhorse, those familiar with the concept will understand the reference, those who don't might just like the design as my main intention is to create products that can be seen as both. I have also altered my products to make them as child friendly as possible but also involve funny digs.

Finishing all of my T-shirts - 20/11/2022

Finishing all of my T-shirts Daisy Jackson / 20/11/2022 Today I finished all of my T-shirts. Altogether there are 32. 10 small 8 Medium 10 Large 4 Extra Large  Amongst this, I will have 40 cards for sale. I am unsure on how many prints I will have. I will have 8 tote bags as well. My plan of action? I will wash these shirts and see which ones survive (hopefully all). I will then create my packaging.  Before this, I will create 20 more cards and then focus on the prints and tote bags. The tote bags should not be an issue as they are lower maintenance than the T-shirts. Overall, I am very happy with the progress I have made. I wanted to get the T-shirts out of the way as soon as possible due to how difficult they were to print at times. It was a very tedious job which I am very glad is finished! I also tried a Zettle payment which came through so at least I know that works. I will more than likely make a survey soon to see what pricing I can do. This will also include product research in

Reasoning for each design and relating it to Warhorse - 20/11/2022

Reasoning for each design and relating it to Warhorse Daisy Jackson / 20/11/2022 On this blog post I will be going through each of my final designs and briefly explaining how they relate to Warhorse. Joey was sold for £40 in a horse auction. I wanted to represent the relationship between Joey and Albert and label him as 'priceless' because to Albert, he is priceless. This was a very important scene from the book/movie. The breed of horse that Joey is, he cannot typically plough the fields. Albert's family's farm depended on this scene as if Joey failed to do this, then everything would be taken away including Joey. This is a very straight forward design but represents a large character development from several characters. Intertextuality - referencing Family Guy's famous scene 'Peter the horse is here'. I decided to create a spin off saying 'Albert your horse is here' because constantly throughout the book and movie, Albert would find himself saying

Creating more card designs - reflection from midpoint feedback / 20/11/2022

Creating more card designs - reflection from midpoint feedback Daisy Jackson / 20/11/2022 After recieving feedback from my midpoint presentation, Matt suggested it would be great to create more of a contrast in my work. The drawing inspired by Laughing Mule he loved and thought it would be interesting to create some similar studies. Doing this could possibly generate me more sales and attract a wider range of audience. Upon discussion, I was going to focus on particular body parts of horses and focus more closely on them. However, when sitting down and drawing I decided I wanted to go for a more dramatic approach. Here are the newer designs: This design captures a silhouette of a horse and person - more specifically Joey and Albert. This will attract an audience who are interested in horses or know somebody who is and wants to buy a sentimental gift. I think it delivers a very powerful message of love and the power of it - something I was really interested in during my research into Wa

Creating designs for labels and so on -

Creating designs for labels and so on Daisy Jackson / 16/11/2022 I decided to take a break from printing and worked on the design process today. This includes labels and branding etc. Usually I would focus on colour within my designs, however I wanted to remain consistent with the appearance of my work. Due to the Cricut machine only allowing a limited amount of colour, I thought it would be best to focus mainly on black and white - however when specifying important elements such as size and so on, I decided to make this a different colour to emphasise it more.  I first began with creating the designs for the T-shirts. These would be placed within the plastic packaging so the audience can see the size and design. However, the design would still be on the front of the packaging so the audience could see the quality etc. Here is my first set of designs: I added a border surrounding the design as this will be cut out and placed nicely within the packaging. I might change the right side of

Printing my first tote bag - 14/11/2022

Image
Printing my first tote bag Daisy Jackson / 14/11/2022 Today I printed my first tote bag successfully. Because I have 8 tote bags left I decided that I was going to print two of each design (4 designs). This of course makes them more one of a kind but I am really placing my main bets on the T-shirts as I think they will sell more and it is something I want to progress further with in the future - therefore I have placed more attention on this area. Here are images I took of the printing process: I have had the same issues with printing on the tote bags as I did with the T-shirts. However, I have been able to crack the reason as to why it was not working.  After printing I did realise that the design was quite small. I do not believe this is an issue as the design fits nicely in the centre however when printing the other designs I think I should take more space up of the tote bag. This will be the last I do of production as I want the tote bags to be left till last - after the prints.
