Updating my final designs

Daisy Jackson / 02/11/2022

After experiencing many difficulties when applying the vinyl to the T-shirt, I finally cracked what was wrong!

I originally thought it was the fabric - being heavy cotton I thought that the vinyl was not applying well due to the texture - this was wrong.

I then thought it was the colour of the vinyl as the heat press did not seem to compliment anything well other than black - I was wrong.

Because of this, I then went for black vinyl. I ran out due to so much experimentation but found a test sheet of iron on vinyl in my beginner pack for Cricut - I thought because it was black it would work - for some reason I was wrong again.

After speaking with Alice I found that for some reason Cricut vinyl does not work very well and many have experienced the same problems as me. I then decided to buy a cheaper alternative which worked perfectly with no complications.

Before I realised this was the issue, I decided to change my chosen designs completely due to mass production and all the difficulties I was experiencing. I was stressing out a lot as I wanted it to work. Due to this, I decided to go with my 'Priceless' design and use that for all my T-shirts - calling it the 'Priceless range' which would evolve as a seperate part to my brand - 'Esme Artist'.

I then decided to move all the other complex designs to tote bags and prints as this would work out better for me.

Despite finding out what was wrong, I am still going to stick with the 'Priceless range' as it is perfect for the audience at the winter fair - it communicates Warhorse in an interesting way that isn't clear unless you're a fan - therefore, bringing in more sales and interest!

Here is my chosen design for the T-shirts:

What will I do with the other T-shirts?

With the T-shirts that went wrong (that are still sellable) I will sell for either half price or a discounted price. This way I will not have stock left over.

As for the T-shirts that do not fit the 'Priceless range', I will have as extra in a basket or something similar, first come first serve. Unfortunately though, these will be limited sizes.

My designs for my cards:

I really wanted to capture the relationship between the two main horses in Warhorse - Topthorn and Joey. Because of this, I decided to create two alternative cards. One asking and one saying you already are the 'Topthorn to their Joey'. The downside of this is that only those who like and understand the concept of Warhorse will buy these. This is why I made a series of other card designs to accompnay these ones.

This piece was my inspired work from the artist 'Laughing Mule' and I absolutely love the way it turned out. This can interest horse lovers while also capturing the relationship between Topthorn and Joey (the two horse noses in the drawing). The use of positive and negative space is really interesting in this and despite there being a lot of blank space on the card when I make them it still stands out and makes a statement. These would also be interesting as prints which I intend to do.

This is a follow up from the 'Priceless range' and will acompany the shirts when selling. I think this ia a really interesting card design and is very unique. It is straight to the point and will definitely gain a lot of interest in my opinion - similar to the shirts.

This one is a spin off of the previous card design and is a bit more witty. This one is an opposite as it is quite playful and I guess mean? I love these type of cards as they are more humerous. This also plays off of the 'Priceless range'.

These are the designs for my tote bags:

This one represents the scene when Joey ploughed the fields - a more child friendly version. Very striking and delivers the message. This could interest those who are farmers, love horses, love Warhorse, love the design or all?

This one rerpesents intertextuality from a very popular scene from Family Guy. This references Albert constantly saying about how Joey is his horse. I feel like this would sell well and gather a lot of attention.

Once again, the priceless range.

I decided to add a circle around this piece as I thought the original design was too large and long - this also helps with the mass producement as it is not as tedius. I chose to do this design as it is a fun playful communication of Joey and a spin off of the word 'War' - referencing Warhorse in an interesting way.

These are still subject to change - however, the 'Priceless range' will be consistent throughout - especially for the T-shirts.
